‘Lowlands’ – Susan Philipsz Turner Art Prize Winner 2010

This is a video showing the winner of the Turner Art Prize winner from 2010. This video shows a very good example as to what Sonic arts really is, as the sound artist has taken natural simple sounds from everyday life and then remade it into a piece which forces the viewer to see what sounds they have missed in a way. To me that is what sonic arts is and it to me is music without no structure if I am right in saying this. It is a very hard subject to get into although from what I can gather most sound artists usually try to capture an atmosphere of a area through the use of sound and some even pay very close attention to the very sound its self.

Many people will not actually know this, but Sonic art is the basics that form many of our favorite songs we hear today. Some good examples of musicians who were inspired by sonic art form are people like the Prodigy and even Daft Punk who all use electronically simulated sounds which is mainly made up of found simple sounds from every day life.
